How to Measure Yourself for the Right Activewear Size

A size label only means something if the measurements behind it match your body. This guide covers how to measure yourself accurately, then links to the exact size chart for each VEVAwear piece.

What to measure

Most VEVAwear size charts use three measurements: waist, hips and bust. A soft measuring tape gives the most accurate result. Measure directly against skin or light clothing, not over a jacket or bulky layers.

  • Waist. The narrowest point of your torso, usually just above the belly button.
  • Hips. The widest point around your hips and bottom.
  • Bust. Around the fullest part of the chest, with the tape level all the way around.

Keep the tape snug but not tight. A measurement taken while holding your breath or pulling the tape too firm will read smaller than your actual size.

Reading the chart

Each size chart lists the exact range for a specific piece, since fit varies by garment and cut. A pair of leggings and a jacket in the same letter size can cover different measurement ranges.

If your measurement falls between two sizes, sizing up usually gives more comfort in fitted pieces like leggings and sports bras. Sizing down keeps a closer fit in looser pieces like jackets and tops.

Size charts by piece

Each chart below lists the exact size range for that product.

Fit differs by fabric too

How close a piece sits to the body also depends on its fabric blend. Higher-elastane pieces like leggings and sports bras hug closer than lower-elastane pieces like jackets and capri pants.

For the fabric side of fit, read our fabric guide, or start from the full activewear guide.
